A Workshop at Alnoor University on Deepfakes and Digital Security


In the presence of Professor Dr. Yaseen Taha Alhajjar, President of Alnoor University, the university witnessed on the morning of Tuesday, 2026/2/24, the organization of a specialized scientific workshop entitled (Deepfake and Digital Security) held by the University Follow-up Department at the University Presidency in cooperation with the Security Center of Universities and Institutes of Nineveh Governorate.
A distinguished group of National Security officers from Nineveh Governorate also attended the workshop, where they addressed the main challenges associated with deepfake technologies and their use in media disinformation, cyber extortion, and identity impersonation, as well as their risks to community and institutional security.
The workshop also included a demonstrative presentation on methods for detecting digitally fake content and ways to enhance digital awareness among students and staff, in addition to reviewing preventive measures that help protect accounts and personal data from hacking and misuse.
The workshop organizers emphasized the importance of raising the level of digital security awareness within the university campus, stressing the necessity of handling content circulated on social media cautiously and verifying information sources before reposting.
This workshop is part of a series of awareness activities that the university is keen to organize, aiming to strengthen digital security and establish a safe university environment aware of contemporary technological challenges. At the end of the workshop, the President of Alnoor University awarded certificates of appreciation to the guest lecturers. The workshop was also attended by the President’s assistants for scientific and administrative affairs, as well as several deans of the university’s colleges.
